The Heart of the Matter

Images Without Borders sells gallery-quality prints from images donated by world-class photographers, with all profits going directly to Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in support of their work to provide care and relief in Haiti and around the world.

Every image offered by Images Without Borders is as a limited edition of ten prints. Gallery Image prints are offered at $50 and $100. iPhotography Image prints are offered at $20 and $36. When ten prints of either are sold, the image will be retired from this special edition and price.

Please support our efforts. Purchase a print and invite your friends, favorite galleries, and interested collectors to visit our site.

Details on Images without Borders Fundraising for Haiti

Thanks to Photoshelter, a site is now available where photographers can upload up to five images to benefit Doctors without Borders and their relief efforts on the ground in Haiti. The site has been donated by @photoshelter. Several print companies have offered to help, and today we have over 35 photographers committed to working with the project. At this time there is no overhead other than the basic cost of printing, which we hope will be offset. We began this project because of concerns in organizing artists through legitimate and trustworthy organizations. This led us to team up with Photoshelter and Doctors without Borders.
IMAGES ARE NOT READY FOR PURCHASE UNTIL WE HAVE BILLING AND DONATION DETAILS NAILED DOWN. Since some printing is being donated it complicated checkout and  we are arranging correct procedures with Doctors without Borders. We hope to be selling by the weekend.
The preliminary site can be found here:http://bit.ly/8H1v3p and emails can be addressed to either stacyericson@gmail.com or laura@timecaptured.net. Once we have an email for each photographer you will be added as a contributor and will be able to upload your own images embedded with your metadata. We will add images to the galleries as they come in.
The procedure to contribute is simple: Just dm or email us your email address and we will generate an invitation/upload link through Photoshelter. Current photoshelter users can "transfer" an  image to Photoshelter MU. Email to Stacyericson@gmail.com for the moment. YOU CANNOT NAME OR EDIT IMAGES ONCE UPLOADED, so please put YOUR NAME in with the title or image label before you upload. If you do this the artists' names appear in the slide-show or gallery.

All images will have identical pricing at 50.00 for 11x14 images, 100.00 for a larger image, and 36.00 for smaller iphone images printed as 8x10s. If resolution allows iPhoneography to be printed at larger size the pricing will comparable to our other images of similar size. ALL COPYRIGHT, OF COURSE REMAINS WITH THE ARTIST.

All help is welcome. We need a few things still, shoot us a DM on twitter @Ithili @laurabergerol if you want to help in other ways. We have a domain names as of yesterday, which will be plugged into site later today.

Images are not yet available for purchase, but if we begin uploads now, purchases will be possible by the end of the week. We chose Doctors without Borders because 1) they have been working in Haiti for many years and are already on the ground 2) they are small enough to be accountable and large enough to be legitimate 3) they represent a cause we personally believe in and can be of immediate help.
Please send hi-res images, only prints will be sold and please limit your edition to 50 or less. Although this safe sales format does not allow signed and numbered prints, we would like to offer buyers, at least in some cases, the option of sending their print to the artist for a signature.

Please let us know of any other questions or concerns or ideas you may have and we will respond as soon as possible.

Thank you for your attention.

update Thurs. Jan. 21

We now have over 60 photographers contributing and loading images. There are two galleries, one separate for iPhoneography, so do look for that by checking galleries in top corner.  The beauty and breadth of work is astonishing and seeing so many artists working together and in juxtaposition is more inspiring than I can express.

A few good questions have been posed that I'd like to address.

Will you be holding these images indefinitely and can we withdraw them?
LOL. No, you may withdraw images at any time and we will take down immediately and destroy our copy.

Our hope is that this is an ongoing project for Doctors without Borders and ultimately the gallery will be changing over time. Images will also be removed if the limit of 50 prints is reached during sales.

You can change or replace images at any time, although we hope that you wait until things calm down to change things up!

I am linking here to contributor's blogs/websites as I get them and we are doing this on the website as well.

Please let me know if you have any other questions and I will address them as quickly as possible. We very much appreciate the proofreading, site checking, and insightful questions we have recieved so far.
